Atletico Madrid president Enrique
Cerezo is confident Radamel Falcao will shun the advances of Premier
League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move to England while his father Radamel Garcia also claimed his son dreams of playing for Real Madrid.
But Falcao, who scored a hat-trick against Chelsea in last week's UEFA Super Cup, took to Twitter to deny the reports.
'I do not give him (Garcia) any importance,' Cerezo told a Spanish radio station.
'The player himself is not saying it, so there is nothing wrong. A father can say whatever he wishes about his sons, but Falcao has clearly explained that he is happy and content at Atletico and will be here for four years.'
Falcao signed for Atletico for €40million (£31m) from Porto last summer and scored 36 goals in his debut season.
Atletico's chief executive Miguel
Angel Gil Marin suggested earlier this week that he would be sold at
some point given the club’s precarious financial situation, but Cerezo
has since contradicted those sentiments.
'We are in a fantastic moment, a happy moment,' he added. 'We have a fantastic team and coach and I do not see Falcao’s father’s statements as destabilising. Everything is very calm. Falcao is not leaving.'
